The passage from David's psalm 116 "Come back, my soul, to your own peace" seems to offer pure optimism and safety that calms all existing - the tranquility which I could not find perhaps beyond myself. While at the same time an enormous fear in questioning from what disquietude, from what experience should I emerge. The video "From the Music Box" reflects the necessity of changing. More subtle maybe... A small plastic ballerina doll personifies my own experience when questioning (to hermeticy? to insomnia? in simulation?). For her this environment is appropriate because the ballerina, even when tied by brutal but corresponding mechanism, still ideally spins around in her music box. Milica Crnobrnja Vukadinovic (Belgrade, 1975), graduated in 1998 from the Academy of Serbian Orthodox Church for Conservation and Restoration in Belgrade. In 2003 graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in painting. In 2005 completed MFA studies at the same Academy in Belgrade, in the class of professor Cedomir Vasic. Awarded "Ljubica Cuca Sokic" prize in 2001 and 2003 for miniature painting. Since 1999 exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and art festivals, and had five solo shows – drawings, transparent paintings, paintings, video, slide and video installations. |
